Admissions Associate

Reports to: The Director of Admissions

Job Classification: Full Time, Exempt

Main Function:

In Collaboration with the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Associate is responsible for generating and increasing interest and enrollment for the Riverview School.  This role will manage key aspects of the Admissions process and travel to promote and market the Riverview School.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Prospecting and marketing – Promotion

  • Ability to passionately communicate Riverview’s mission and the life-changing affect that it can have on students and their families.

  • Relationship building with prospective families and referring professionals – Q&A, information gathering

  • Quantifiable growth of qualified admissions and referral sources

  • Admissions process steps – Onsite visit, criteria for fit at the school, final decision, student/family interaction.

  • Maintain relationships and problem solving of any and all issues

Additional Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Identify and nurture potential new sources of applicants, further cultivate and grow existing relationships

  • Audit current marketing materials, processes, and recruitment process to identify and collaborate on areas of improvement.

Student Recruitment:

  • Implement student recruitment strategies and programs, responsible for recruiting activities and follow-ups.

  • Visit and participate at high schools, conferences, workshop, etc. Provides information, facilitates campus visits, in collaboration with staff, conducts and supervises campus tours

  • Evaluate the profile of students and collect necessary information from referring professionals and service providers.

  • Ensure all information on visiting and accepted students obtained during the admissions process is accurate, up to date and readily available via the admissions database

  • Manage the prospective student’s initial admissions process for all Riverview programs to provide support and ease anxiety over the transition. 

  • Provide insight to Admissions Committee prior to acceptance of prospective students to facilitate the final decision on acceptance.

  • Act as liaison during Opening Weekends to greet new students and families (summer and fall programs)

  • Conduct virtual and in-person information sessions for prospective families and professionals providing answers to questions and any required follow up.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:

1. Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree.

2. Demonstrates an understanding of learning disabilities and willingness to learn the integrated curriculum, and middle, secondary, and transition programs offered at Riverview School.

3. Preferred experience working in an admissions office or have a certification in Moderate Special Needs / experience working with adolescents with learning disabilities is preferred.

4. Demonstrates strong interpersonal, sales, communication, technology and writing skills.

5. Proven track record of increase of qualified leads and referral sources

5. The ability to research targeted marketing opportunities within identified geographies.

7. Exhibits comfort and competence with public speaking/presenting the school and its programs.

9. Travel plays an integral role in this position. Ideal candidate will undertake frequent travel primarily in the Northeast region but will include nationwide and international destinations, including multi -day or weekly overnight marketing trips. Occasionally will entail nights/ weekends.

10. Participate in orientation training weeks prior to the opening of school, in addition to the weekly in-service training program throughout the school year (minimum of 24 hours of in-service training).

ART INSTRUCTOR

Reports To:

Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator

Main Function:

The Art Instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering individualized instruction designed to build artistic skills and foster creative expression through a variety of mediums. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement an age-appropriate art curriculum.

  • Provide instruction through differentiated lesson plans that support and encourage skill development in the visual arts.

  • Use daily student learning data to reflect on skill development and adjust instruction as needed.

  • Foster creative expression using skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the students’ areas of interest and abilities.

  • Teach a wide variety of art mediums to young people.

  • Build a classroom culture in which students love art and feel safe to express themselves and take risks through their artistic expression.

  • Arrange exhibitions and displays of student work, both on campus and in the community.

  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support curriculum and learning.

  • Partner with other creative and performing art team members in organizing school wide art events, including creating sets, props, and materials for an annual school musical.

Awake Overnight Monitor

Reports to:

Awake Overnight Supervisor

Main Function:

Carry out campus wide student and campus wide safety and security measures such as, visual checks on students, checking school buildings and vehicles, supporting students, reporting suspicious activity, completing basic maintenance and clerical duties.

Maintenance Tech

Reports to:

General Performance Responsibilities:

  • Perform emergency repairs to RVS buildings and equipment to maintain a safe environment for staff and students.

  • Perform preventative maintenance.

  • Keep Supervisor informed of the progress of the work and any significant developments as they occur.

  • Keep all work areas free and clear of debris.

  • Work quality must meets professional standards.

  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as required by the Director of Facilities.

Primary Performance Responsibilities:

Physical and Environmental Demands:

The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Work is performed both inside and outside and the employee may be subject to loud noise, exposure to extremes in temperature, inclement weather, dust, odors, cleaning chemicals and related fumes, etc.  Employee is subject to one or more hazards such as those associated with working power equipment, climbing ladders and working from scaffolding. Regular and sustained periods of strenuous physical exertion. Operation of equipment that causes loud noise level and high vibrations.

May require the exercise of caution when operating equipment and handling chemicals or other toxic materials, and the utilization of proper sanitary precautions when handling trash, garbage, blood spills and other potential hazards.

Work is mutually mental and physical.  While performing the functions of this job, the employee is required to bend at the waist, push, pull, move, lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds, twist/turn, climb ladders, shovel snow, seek to assure proper and complete cleaning, and use dexterity of hands and fingers to operate power equipment.
